The Final Night of the All Time Low Forever Tour

BY CLAIRE JOHNSON

Pop punk band All Time Low just wrapped up their All Time Low Forever Tour with a hometown performance at Merriweather Post Pavilion on August, 24, 2024. The tour, that celebrated the band’s 20 year anniversary, featured three nights of special performances with an extended setlist which culminated in their Maryland show. All Time Low, comprised of Alex Gasgarth (vocals and guitar), Zachary Merrick (bass), Rian Dawson (drums), and Jack Barakat (lead guitar) formed in early 2003. The band hails from Towson, MD, a suburb outside of Baltimore, and has been playing music together ever since.

For the last show only, Boys Like Girls and LØLØ opened up for ATL. Boys Like Girls and All Time Low have played shows together in the past, which added an extra layer of nostalgia for audience members in attendance who are longtime fans of both bands. Fans screamed along to the lyrics of some of their favorite songs from Boys Like Girls’ older discography, adding to the ephemeral energy of the evening, celebrating the milestones and memories of both bands. Canadian singer-songwriter LØLØ has gained popularity in recent years as she supported other major artists in the pop punk scene including Avril Lavigne, JXDN, and Simple Plan. This is not the first time she’s shared the stage with Boys Like Girls, however, as she opened for their headlining tour back in the fall of 2023. Both support acts made a memorable impression on the audience, adding to the overall experience of what would be an unforgettable night.

Kicking off their biggest headlining hometown show to date, All Time Low opened with a snippet of the title track from their latest album, Tell Me I’m Alive, which led into another lead single, “Some Kind of Disaster.” While playing through their setlist, every audience member undoubtedly heard at least one of their favorite All Time Low songs, whether they are new to the fanbase or have been lifelong fans. Some old favorites that are rarely played live managed to make the setlist for this important show, notably, “Jasey Rae”, “This Girl’s a Straight Up Hustler” and “For Baltimore.” One very special moment was when Alex brought his wife, Lisa, on stage to sing the end of another fan favorite song, “Remembering Sunday.” Many fans were hoping this would happen after the track’s re-release featuring Lisa Gasgarth and Lindsey Sterling, which dropped the day before.

The entire show was reminiscent of All Time Low’s early days and showcased their growth, exploring what has continued to keep the band at the forefront of people’s minds all these years. Through the songs they played, the constant reminder of how special the night was to the boys, and how they would not be where they are today without the help and support from their fans, Alex expressed his overwhelming gratitude multiple times throughout the night. As the final notes of the encore faded, All Time Low left the stage having shared one last unforgettable moment with their fans in the place where it all began.
