From the Studio to the Stage
BY KATIE HART
“When all your heroes get tired, I'll be something better yet”… a lyric that the band Bleachers definitely lived up to during their London stop on the From the Studio to the Stage tour on August 27th, 2024 at the O2 Academy Brixton, London.
Getting to watch Bleachers is a treat from both the pit and the back of the venue. The band has a contagious level of energy and charisma, smiling and performing their hearts out throughout the entire set! Each band member plays multiple instruments – with a stage setup of 2 percussionists, 2 saxophonists, multiple guitars and basses, and everyone singing into mics – and there is constant movement as they run around the stage to play to each other and the audience.
There is great chemistry between the performers and audience members too. Super fans in the front row wore shirts and held signs with inside jokes, like “Welcome to New Jersey,” where the band originated, or “Slut 4 Tomatoes” (the state vegetable of New Jersey). They got up close and personal with lead singer Jack Antonoff as he danced and sang at the end of the stage, often interacting and directing people when to, “get low,” and then, “JUMP!” Everyone was eager to oblige and dance along!
Needless to say: You're going to want to experience this tour.
