Glass Animals: Tour of Earth

BY CHRISTOPHER MARIANO

For two nights, Glass Animals brought their unique blend of indie pop and electronic flair to the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, with Kevin Abstract setting the stage for a night to remember. With the stunning Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan as the backdrop, the scene was set for a memorable night.

Kevin Abstract opened the show with a captivating set that had no the crowd fully engaged from the get-go. His performances of “Peach” and “American Problem” were especially powerful, drawing the audience into his world. From his engaging interactions with the audience to his incredible showmanship, Kevin Abstract is one to watch as his star continues to shine brighter.

Glass Animals took the stage with a burst of energy, kicking off with “Big Dog” and keeping the momentum high throughout their set. The band seamlessly mixed hits from Dreamland to their newest album, I love you so F**cking Much. A standout moment was when Glass Animal’s  frontman, Dave Bayley,  trekked into the crowd during “Gooey,” creating an intimate connection within a grand space.

The night built to a thrilling climax with the back-to-back performances of “The Other Side of Paradise” and “Heat Waves.” “The Other Side of Paradise” was a high-energy, emotional rollercoaster, with its pounding beats and haunting lyrics capturing the audience's full attention. The transition into “Heat Waves” was electric to say the least, with the crowd erupting and singing the words in unison, turning the entire pavilion into a massive chorus with the city skyline to drape the background.

As the final notes of “Heat Waves” faded into the night, the audience was left buzzing with the exhilaration of the performance. Glass Animals and Kevin Abstract delivered a show that was pure musical magic.
