Isabel LaRosa Headlines in Los Angeles

BY KAY WOLFER

Nineteen year old Isabel LaRosa returned to the El Rey on September 7th for a night of infectious hits. LaRosa, alongside her brother and guitarist, Thomas LaRosa, had previously opened for artist Bea Miller at this same venue. But upon their return, as part of the ‘HEAVEN DOESN’T WAIT’ tour, they secured a headlining show. Thomas LaRosa had a doubly long night. Along with pop artist Tender Misfit, Thomas opened the show, performing his own music, before performing as his sister’s guitarist.

The two had a very strong connection with their fans, Isabel making that fact clear when she addressed the crowd to remind them that nobody here loved them more than she did. The performance was high energy for most of the night, but the two took to stools center stage to perform an acoustic section of her set.

LaRosa prefaced one song by telling us that, the person she wrote it for, “may or may not be in the room”. The song was intimate and revealing, something you’d expect from an older performer. The LaRosas, however, have been at this for more than a while. The two have been musicians since they were seven and eleven respectively. With the move from opener to headliner, and with the viral success of LaRosa’s music, it’s clear the years of dedication have paid off.
