Jazmin Bean Could be the Next Big Thing
BY CARRIE BERGAN
On September 26th, every single person in the room was full of excitement for Jazmin Bean, each dressed to impress in outfits that fit the overall vibe of Bean’s music and the show. The whole stage was decorated in flowers, from the mic stand to the band members’ risers. Once doors opened, the room slowly filled as people anxiously did their best to be as close to the barricade as possible, all eager for the chance to make eye contact with Jazmin or maybe even to reach out and hold their hand. While I wasn’t an avid listener of either artist that night - both acts delivered beautiful performances.
The opener was local to Milwaukee - dark-pop duo, You Win !!! The lead vocalist had a delicate and enchanting voice that paired with her super cute shy personality as the she interacted with the audience between songs; her physicality, in particular her hand movements, were purposeful and flowed with the music.
Then, it was time for Jazmin Bean. The crowd chanted “Jazmin” repeatedly as the tension built from the room being darkened for their grand entrance. The band members took their places as the music swelled and finally, Jazmin took the stage. Screams pierced the room as the show started. Jazmin has a raw and powerful voice that paired wonderfully with their dancing as they twirled around flawlessly on the stage. It was a magical performance and you could tell everyone in the audience loved it all as they sang along, word from word. At some point a gift was even delivered. Unfortunately, I was much too far away to see what it was, but Jazmin was clearly very touched by this gesture. (And I’m sure that fan went home beaming and was on cloud nine for the remainder of the night.)
After Jazmin played their ‘last song’ and departed the stage, the room slowly made their way to the exit. But… it wasn’t over; they came out just a few minutes later for the ENCORE. Grand entrances, fake exits - is it really a concert without them? Jazmin joked saying that if you left, you lost points. Rule number one for a concert, never leave unless the house lights come on. The ‘last song’ is never the real ending. Trust me, I’ve been to enough concerts to know this.
I may not have known the artists well going into the evening, but everyone in attendance certainly did, and I definitely recommend keeping an eye on rising star, Jazmin Bean. They definitely look like the next big thing to me. Your favorite artist somewhere. The whole night was good vibes, singing along, and someone screaming “I love you Jazmin” between songs. It was super heartwarming and a nice change from my usual pop punk emo scene with a wall of death. Check them out, you might be surprised - like me!
