Joshua Bassett Meets Baltimore

BY EMILY SINGH

On August 14th, 2024, Baltimore, MD’s Pier Six Pavilion joined Joshua Bassett for the first time ever in his reminiscence of what is known as the “Golden Years.” With a variety of songs from his early Disney days to his recent debut album, “Golden Years”, Joshua carries his adoring fans through an energetic yet heartwarming recap of his life.

Joshua Bassett is a singer/songwriter based in California. Since 2020, Joshua has shared his deep, most personal experiences with the use of infectious rhythms and majestic melodies. Although his fame derived from his acting performances on various Disney series, his popularity grew alongside his music, now with approximately 1.8 million monthly listeners.

On the day of the show, fans arrived at the venue as early as 10:00 am in hopes of securing a great view of the evening’s performance. As the day progressed, more fans arrived with posters, big smiles and most importantly - cowgirl hats! The night kicked off with opener Thomas Day whose amazing set kept the crowd on their toes. Afterwards, chatter filled the room as the anticipation for Joshua grew. Just then, a familiar song plays through the speakers that catches the attention of the entire venue… none other than “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction. After a beautiful synchronous sing-along from the crowd, the lights dimmed and Joshua arrived on stage ready to rock - and he did just that!

Not only did he perform a wide range of his music, but he interacted with the crowd numerous times; He would join them in the standing area, bring them on stage to dance the do-si-do, and even sported their cowgirl hats for moments. My favorite moment from this show was halfway during the set-list; he invited a couple onto the stage to serenade them with his hit song “I Think I Kinda You Know” as it was the walking down the aisle song for their wedding.

From dances to serenades, Baltimore’s first night with Joshua was unforgettable to say the least. Thank you, Joshua, for spending your Wednesday night dancing, singing, and laughing with Baltimore. We can’t wait to see you again!
