Palace: From Four People to a Full House

BY NADINE GOETZ

The British alternative rock band Palace finished their Ultrasound tour at a sold-out Eventim Apollo in London on Sunday, November 30th. The show’s dreamy vibes were supported through a captivating light show which created a stunning atmosphere in the venue. Rollo Doherty opened the show with his guitar, setting the tone for a laid-back night of music. He was later invited back on stage as he sang a duet with Leo Wyndham, the lead singer of Palace. After Doherty’s set, the British band Chartreuse warmed up the crowd with a more rock-infused performance.

Shortly after 9 pm, Palace took the stage. The fans in the front row were singing along to every word, captivated by the band’s performance right from the beginning. The stage design was simple but beautiful, adding to the overall ambiance – various light bulbs were hanging from the ceiling above the band. Palace delivered great instrumentals and a diverse setlist consisting of their four albums with a main focus on their latest release “Ultrasound” from earlier this year.

The audience was especially enthusiastic when the band, consisting of Leo Wyndham, Rupert Turner, Matt Hodges, and Harry Deacon, played their most streamed hit “Live Well” which received a very long astounding applause. The concert ended with a special treat when a shower of colorful confetti surprised the audience before Palace brought out their guitar technician Ben, who joined the band on stage for the encore “Veins.” During the concert, vocalist Leo Wyndham revealed that the first time the band played in London was in front of just four people. He seemed genuinely honored to be able to play the Eventim Apollo that night, thanking the audience for their support over the years and mentioning how they will remember this night for the rest of their life. It is safe to say that it was also a night to remember for the fans in attendance.
