A Night of Irish Pop Magic with Picture This

BY NADINE GOETZ

Picture This brought their electric energy and infectious sound to the O2 Academy Brixton in London for the only UK date on their current tour. Australian pop-rock-singer Sam Fischer opened the show with a stripped-back set and had the audience enthusiastically join in to sing along to his biggest hit This City. Picture This’ eye-catching stage design set the perfect atmosphere for the evening; it included a huge car, a lantern, as well as trees with fairy lights which created a cozy feel. The band’s drummer Jimmy Rainsford stepped on the stage first and sprayed the word London on the car, a tradition they have been doing throughout their entire tour run.

The band includes singer Ryan Hennessy, drummer Jimmy Rainsford, Guitarist Owen Cardiff, and bassist Cliff Deane. The band’s involvement and interaction with the audience created an intimate atmosphere that showcased the connection between the Irish musicians and their devoted fans. Lead singer Ryan Hennessy’s charismatic presence and captivating performance had the crowd singing and clapping along to both old and new songs. Throughout their entire set, the crowd used any opportunity to chant “ole ole ole”, the band enthusiastically joining in, Hennessy waving around Irish flags while hyping up the audience. With a mix of upbeat dance tunes and heartfelt ballads, the Irish pop band truly showcased their musical versatility.

You could see how much fun they were having on stage and how passionate they are about their music. It was evident that they were having just as much fun on stage as their fans in the crowd. They closed the set with their biggest hit “Take My Hand” and soaked in the atmosphere afterward by thanking the crowd and handing out set lists while ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” blasted through the speakers. Picture This surely left a lasting impression, leaving the audience with a night of unforgettable music and a sense of connection with a band that clearly loves what they do.
