Stephen Sanchez Live From The Connie Co Show

BY MADDI WHITING

Live from The Connie Co Show… it’s Stephen Sanchez and The Moon Crests!

The crowd erupts.

On October 19th, contemporary crooner Stephen Sanchez brought his 1950s era swagger as well as his fictionalized band, The Moon Crests, to the historic Philadelphia venue, The Met. Met by thousands of adoring fans, the evening was sure to be unforgettable.

Stephen’s North American tour, like his latest album, centers around fictional musician ‘Troubadour Sanchez’ and drops audiences into the 1950s as Sanchez gives a special performance live on ‘The Connie Co Show.’ Setting this tour apart from other shows on the road today, Stephen and his team have truly embraced the narrative of Troubadour Sanchez that Stephen so thoughtfully cultivated in his album, “Angel Face,” and have strategically woven the narrative throughout the live show. As audiences made their way through the evening, it was clear that they were no longer attending a Stephen Sanchez concert. Rather, they were audience members ready for a live taping of the Connie Co show, with Co coming out on stage to introduce each act, including openers Bebe Stockwell and The Paper Kites, as well sitting down to interview Stephen in the middle of his set. The evening was meticulously curated to fit Stephen’s unique aesthetic from his well-tailored classic suit to the sleek stage design complete with a rotating ‘tv show’ set.

There is no denying that Sanchez is a true performer. With smooth dance moves and a suave demeanor, his performance seemed to cary him effortless through the night, never leaving the stage… unless it was to run through the crowd, of course. Stephen exudes charisma and was sure to charm fans as he made his way through the audience not one, but twice. Early in the set, Sanchez hopped off stage making his way gracefully through the aisles as he serenaded fans with a cover of “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,’ complete with twirls and a gentlemanly kiss on the hand. The girls swooned. Then again to close out his performance, Stephen returned to the floor with a burst of energy singing “Shake,” making an intentional effort to connect with his fans and leave them with an evening they won’t forget.

The evening consisted primarily of songs off of Sanchez’ most recent release, “Angel Face” while also including some fan favorites, an exuberant cover of Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman,” and a new unfinished song entitled (for now) “You Are So Beautiful.” And, of course, the show wouldn’t have been complete without his 2021 hit that skyrocketed his career, “Until I Found You.”

It’s clear that Stephen Sanchez is a class act with a style that sets him apart from most artists touring today. With a sound and performance quality that transcends TikTok fame, Stephen Sanchez & The Moon Crests are a must-see act. While the tour is coming to a close, Stephen has made it clear that…

“The Troubadour Sanchez will return…”
