Tour of the Setting Sum
BY MARIAH FRITZ
Tour of The Setting Sum: featuring Sum 41, with openers Many Eyes and The Interrupters, was packed full of emotions and high energy all night long.
Many Eyes kicked off the night with an impressive set that blended grunge and metal core giving early 1990s vibes to the crowd. Their energy got the audience excited for the rest of the night and set the tone for the remainder of the show.
Next up, The Interrupters took the stage and cranked up the energy even further. The band's chemistry was profound and created an immersive environment for the evening. With their ska-punk sound, they instantly had the crowd dancing and singing along. Front-woman, Aimee, had strong vocals and a dynamic performance that turned the venue into a riot of movement and positive energy. Their charismatic interaction with the audience created an electric atmosphere that had the crowd ready for Sum 41 to hit the stage one last time.
Finally, Sum 41 delivered an emotional and powerful punk rock performance that kept the audience lively. Launching into the classics we all know and love like “Fat Lip” and “In Too Deep,” the band had the crowd singing along from the very start. Their setlist cleverly balanced nostalgia with new material, including tracks from their latest album, which fit seamlessly into their sound. Deryck Whibley's presence left the audience engaged and feeling emotional along with the band on their very last tour. The passion Deryck and the rest of the band have for their craft really showed throughout the entire concert from the first song all the way through the encore. It was bittersweet seeing the band play their last few songs to close out the evening but they left the fans wanting more, which goes to show why they have such a strong and dedicated fan base. The band’s high-energy performance was punctuated by impressive guitar solos and powerful drumming, especially during tracks like “Still Waiting,” which resonated deeply with fans.
Overall, the combination of Many Eyes, The Interrupters, and Sum 41 created an unforgettable night of music that celebrated the spirit of punk rock and left fans new and old with long lasting memories of their last tour. Each act brought their unique flavor to the stage, but together they forged an evening of excitement that will linger long after the last note faded.
