The Marías Kick Off the Submarine Tour in Oakland

BY DAVID JUAREZ

The Marías kicked off their Submarine Tour with success in the Bay Area, selling out two nights at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California. Fans from across states eagerly traveled for these initial performances.

Lead singer, María Zardoya, had only one rule for the Bay Area crowd and it was to be present, and that resonated throughout the night. The show began with an extended rendition of “Hamptons” and closed out the second night with “Cariño.” Throughout the evening, The Marías had fans passionately singing along to fan favorite songs spanning their discography, blending selections from both past albums and their latest release, 'Submarine.’

At one point, Zardoya called out, "¿Dónde está mi gente latina?" and proceeded to name various Spanish-speaking countries—including El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Peru, Guatemala, and Mexico—each eliciting cheers from their respective communities in the crowd.

Visually, the stage was a circular backdrop at center stage and a smaller platform on stage left. The band created stunning silhouettes with the dynamic lighting effects throughout their performance. This visual spectacle enhanced the overall ambiance, complementing the music and amplifying the emotional impact of each song.

From Zardoya's strong vocals to the seamless production, The Marías delivered an unforgettable concert experience at the Fox Theater on July 17th. Their ability to blend musical genres and languages while maintaining a genuine connection with their diverse audience solidified their status as a band to watch while on tour promoting their ’Submarine’ album.
